new-year.jpgTo all readers of Audio Tech News, we wish you a happy new year. ATN has been a little quiet of late, due to some insane gigging schedules.

First up was a venue in Gateshead. I use the term ‘venue’ very loosely. You don’t need to know much apart from that the room was about the size of my old bedroom, which was quite a big room just to sleep in, but I wouldn’t want an 8K PA rig in there.

We ended up mixing the gig in two rooms from the same desk with a bit of imaginative panning. It was a good night in the end, but will always be one of those gigs we probably should have pulled.

Next up was a decent venue with questionable street-cred in Lowestoft. As I’d already suspected, there was little point in taking a PA as they already had one. The best part was that we’d taken along a good friend of mine as part of our PA package, who was my mentor for quite a while when I got going in Sound Engineering. I particularly enjoyed it as I got a sound I was about 95% happy with early on in the day, so it left plenty of room to play.

Review coming up!
