Hosa Technology are making it easier for those of you who are sick of having to find alternative ’solutions’ when connecting up equipment.  So no more ripping into cables with your teeth in a gig emergency.

Not that I’ve ever done that, of course.

So Hosa are proud to announce the GSK-112 speaker adaptor, the GOP-490 optical adaptor, and the OPQ-210 optical cable.  More details at Harmony Central

JOST have released version 0.4.3 which accepts accepts audio synthesis and processing plugins in LADSPA, DSSI, and native Linux VST formats, and solves some of the pizmidi problems of v0.4.2

“JOST also encourages and monitors the development of native Linux VSTs from open source code provided by the original authors. Though written originally for Windows, this code is often released under the GPL, and some remarkable collections are available. The programmers at mda-vst kindly donated a package of more than thirty synthesizer and effect plugins, many of which have excellent sound quality. Other notable contributions include various effects from the DestroyFX crew, some interesting synths from the soi-disant Rock Hardbuns, and a potentially very useful set of MIDI event processors from the developer known only as The Piz.”

Meyer introduce you

Maybe some things sound so good, you want to hear them echo around the halls.  Evidently Albert is one of those halls, as Sound By Design Ltd have installed  a new system geared around Meyer Sound M1D ultracompact and M2D compact curvilinear array loudspeakers.

“The new system features 10 M2D cabinets, 20 M1D cabinets, two M1D-Sub ultracompact subwoofers, and one M2D-Sub compact subwoofer. Six UPA-1P compact wide coverage loudspeakers provide coverage to the seating surrounding either side of the hall’s famed pipe organ. A Galileo loudspeaker management system handles system drive and processing.

“Additional groundstacked components, including four additional UPA-1P units, four UPM-1P ultracompact wide coverage loudspeakers, two UPJ-1P compact VariO loudspeakers, and four 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers, can be employed when needed.”

More about that on Meyer’s Website

Walsall College and Rotheram College of Art and Technology are hosting courses which are designed and moderated by Roland to encourage the music industry in education.

Personally, I’ve always found their help desk ok, but if you work for Roland, they’re obviously sick of your ineptitude.

Just kidding. Aspects covered in the course include career development, product knowledge, marketing and communications. Audiotechnews thinks this sounds great.

Munich now boasts a brand new pile of glass held up by some steel. It looks pretty cool.

But whats inside is much better. No, not the restaurants or the Junior Campus for children. It’s a multipurpose events forum - a “media dome of light and sound”.

BMW-Welt

Stagetec have whacked in a 48 fader Aurus desk and gone with Meyer to move some air, dude.

Yo!

Digidesign’s latest guitar emulation plug in is the bomb! It’s geared up for Pro Tools, Avid, and Digidesign VENUE  and you can check it out now, y’all.

HERE

“Our Eleven team really went the extra mile with this plug-in by including non-linear characteristics often overlooked in other amp-modeling solutions–things like power amp sag, speaker cone breakup, cabinet resonance and ghost notes. The result of this painstaking attention to detail delivers what we feel is the most incredible and realistic digital guitar amp emulations we’ve heard; it’s something we’re all very proud of here at Digidesign.”

Iron Mountain Incorporated has announced its acquisition of Xepa Digital, LLP (A specialist in high quality audio conversion, archiving and distribution).

Jeff Anthony, VP of Iron Mountain:

“In particular, both companies understand the need for the secure preservation of irreplaceable media assets specific to the entertainment industry. Entertainment customers will have peace of mind knowing that their valuable assets will never have to leave the Iron Mountain facility for digital transfer and, therefore, won’t be subject to potential loss or damage.”

Audiotechnews also wants to hear from anyone who could have come up with a better headline for that story.

Following it’s preview at the Audio Engineering Society convention in New York, Digidesigns ‘ICON D-Control ES’ is now being shipped to dealers, following in the footsteps of the ICON D-Control and medium-format ICON D-Command.

The difference?

These feature a darker color scheme as well as updated, higher-contrast text.

Aesthetics are everything.

Korg’s Radias synth workstation and the KP3 Kaoss Pad now have download updates available from their site.

Sound on Sound say

“The KP3 download adds new sample triggering options, such as a gate function, which only plays back the sample when the sample pad is being pressed down. ”

Sounds like there are loads more features too, so check it out

Music For All are holding a charity dinner at Madame Tussaudes this Friday (23rd November).  The price?  £150 plus the fact you might have to bump into Status Quo. Apart from that, it looks good, as they boast ‘unlimited beer’ and one of the auction items is a drumming masterclass with Ian Paice.

Check it out here
